Nantes - Drones (Single) (26/11/2012)
Much like their other songs Nantes manages to capture the essence of summer and transform it into several minutes of music. Drones has been no exception to this and will no doubt be listened to by many sunburnt and beach clad youth around Australia.
Drones isn’t like your average song and instead of having the typical guitar and drumbeat mix as the standout tunes, they’ve scrapped the guitar and instead opted for keys, creating a vibrant song reminiscent of something you’d hear in the 80s. The track slowly builds momentum until David Rodgers’ deep and mesmerising voice works its way in and the wonder of the song really begins.
The song finishes on a high with vocal contributions from all the band members, which is only interrupted by the intense beating of the drum.
Unlike their indie-pop counterparts Nantes actually have a level of depth to their song lyrics and this can be seen in Drones (“Maybe we will know how long it takes for us to grow”). With their noteworthy music style and thoughtful lyrics Nantes are set to go far in today’s industry.
After already releasing several other successful songs in 2012, Drones is just another teaser to what their debut album will bring, which is due to be released in early 2013.
