Twelve Foot Ninja, Caligula's Horse, Toehider @ The Corner Hotel, Melbourne (04/10/2013)
Following the successful release of Silent Machine in 2012, a support slot with Fear Factory, and smashing a crowd funding record for a music video, Twelve Foot Ninja took to the Corner Hotel stage for their sold out show on the Shuriken tour.
Opening act Toehider were a blast to watch. With capes around shoulders and Go-Pro camera's strapped to foreheads and guitars, the band gave a fantastic performance, highlighted by their medley mash-up of the Darkwing Duck, and Ducktales theme songs. Cheers for the throwback to my childhood, Toehider!
Second up were Caligula's Horse, who are truly a revelation. It's an absolute joy to see a support act who immediately ensnare a crowd with their charisma, and unrivalled energy, and Caligula's Horse deserve every ounce of respect and success which will surely come their way.
They instantly reminded myself of Perth rockers Karnivool, with their progressive sound and clean vocals. Call me a fan, because I dare say, Caligula's Horse gave Twelve Foot Ninja a run for their money that night…
Twelve Foot Ninja, where do I start?
I think I've lost count of the amount of times I've seen these guys live. Largely unknown in Australia, their cult following is legions strong, and their live show is one of the single best on offer in Australia today.
Vocalist Kin prowls the stage and unleashes the force of the ninja with his on stage stomping and eclectic vocals, his energy flowing into the crowd which is only returned in favour. Highlights included Shuriken, and Coming For You.
A phenomenal live act, it won't be long until they fully crack the international scene, and the world feels the full force of their live show.
