Tigertown – Wandering Eyes (04/09/2013)
Indie quintet Tigertown’s third EP Wandering Eyes is a masterpiece of rustic pop beats, superb vocals, and subtle polish and production touches.
Tigertown have taken the best of the pop, indie and folk genres’ recent histories and have blended them into an organic 5-song EP that highlights the maturity and talent of the band.
The EP’s single What You Came Here For captures the band’s signature understated yet intricate style in a mix of soaring vocals, subtle synth touches, and the syncopated group-sung chorus.
The album continues with a folk vibe carried by the synthesiser and electric guitars as well as the post-production vocals adjustments. Back In Time sounds exactly like the title indicates, and plays with a strongly nostalgic tone that blends well with the album art and the more vintage production of the EP as a whole.
The title track, Wandering Eyes, picks up more psychedelic tones while still flowing with the rest of the album. The interplay between Chris and Charlie’s vocals creates an intimate moment between the two and stands out from the res of the album’s vocals.
The EP closes on a delicate note with the love ballad Ghost. While not boasting the energy of the previous tracks, the gentle acoustic guitar and synth notes flow beautifully on from the earlier songs, with Charlie’s stunning vocals lifting this song to the next level.
For those who haven’t taken the time or had the opportunity to listen to Tigertown, this is your chance to experience their new EP and you should definitely take it.
