The xx - Coexist (09/10/2012)
The xx’s new album, ‘coexist’ is a blissful return to form for the London based trio.
Upon comparing it to their last self-titled album, coexist extinguishes the crisp, garage sound that made their first album so special and unique. Instead, coexist can be easily described as more fluid and polished from its predecessor.
Despite this relatively small change, the voices of Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft remain unadjusted, creating that same mellow, chilled-out sense their first album provided.
Waiting three years for the release of ‘Coexist’, I can undoubtedly say, I became giddy like a school girl when the opening notes of Angel began playing. It has been a long wait but it has most certainly been worth it.
