The Vernons - Volume One (EP) (12/11/2013)
Queensland four-piece The Vernons have put together a group of serviceable blue-rock tunes on their EP Volume 1, but beyond saying that the group can play their instruments and the frontman can indeed sing, there isn't much else there.
You've probably heard this sort of stuff, and for me personally, I got to the point where I was basically just saying to myself, "there's the Zepellin riff, there's the Black Keys esque chorus, there's the same ideas that Jet ran into the ground all those years ago".
The impression that Volume 1 gives me is that The Vernons are better suited to playing other people's songs well, as opposed to delivering interesting ideas. That said, the have the musical ability and know how to get down and rock, so I'd not put past some fun, if possibly mindless, releases from them in the future.
