The Love Junkies - Flight Test (27/08/2014)
Flight Test, as the name suggests is a test, or rather, a prelude to the The Love Junkies latest album, Maybelene. But we're not here to talk about that album, no, we're hear to talk about the little beauty that is Flight Test.
Recored and mixed by the band in the old bedroom of singer/guitarist Mitch McDonald, this five track release is a great listen, one that keeps you interested and never once over stays it's welcome. This means that multiple listens will definitely be in stock, and with that comes that overwhelming euphoric sense when you find a great new band. There's a little bit of everything to this Perth based trio. Whether it's the dynamic, haunting timbres of the intro song or the brutally honest, Gloria To My Dysphoria, or the loud, raw, sheer rocking numbers that are Chemical Motivation and the standout song, Blowing on the Devil's Strumpet. There's even a more indie, acoustic track in the form of Storm Troopers, adding to the bands overall sound and ensuring that they are not just a loud, one song bird. Alex Sievers |
