The Floors - You Got To Move (12/04/2012)
In the lead up to their debut album, Perth-based band The Floors have released their single You Got To Move. This two-track single features the title track You Got To Move and Aileen (higher love). With their debut album coming off the back of years of touring, it’s the passion of their live shows that we’re looking forward to seeing through their album tracks.
Known for their dynamic stage presence and desire to play raw and un-altered music, The Floors have brought this formula into studio recording. By recording full run-throughs of their songs and limiting digital works, they have been able to maintain the strength and dynamicsm of their live performances.
The title track You Got To Move, builds upon everything this band is known for. From Ryan Dux’s wall of bass and Luke Dux’s dirty guitar hooks to the driving beat of drummer Ashley Doodkorte, these tracks bring a modern edge to classic rock. Even the imperfections that come from live recordings add to the unaltered quality of their sound. And the raw mix of the tracks adding to the passion and drive the band shows towards their live shows
The second track, Aileen (higher love), continues the same floor stomping beat and heavy bass sound. The fast pace and driving beat keep this song charging at full-speed. Combining Luke’s raw voice and dark lyrics to match, this track’s imperfections create the sound we have come to expect from The Floors.
While many bands seem to miss the translation of high impact live shows into their studio recording, The Floors have found the balance between the imperfections of a live show and the restraint of studio recording. If this single is an example of what we can expect from the rest of their album, we are all in for a damn good show and tour after its release.
