Pigeon - Oh Hebe (29/10/2012)
Fresh off their recent tour with Van She, Pigeon have come a long way since 2011.
Oh Hebe, their latest single, clearly shows their continuously evolving sound of house and dance. Yet the greatest appeal about Oh Hebe, is Pigeon’s choice to daringly infuse the unique traits of jazz and house together.
Oh Hebe begins slow and abruptly, taking its time to deliver heavily induced vocals featured in the song. As it continues to build, the daring fusion of jazz trumpet compliments the final stages of the song, creating a combined finale effect.
Ultimatum, remixed by Pigeon begins with a continuous clap in the beat which paces till the end of the song. It is from this point that the intensity of beat picks up with the induction of sounds mirroring machines churning during opening hours of a factory. The song itself warrants a playful attitude illustrated by the bouncy flow of the beat.
Oh Hebe is an impressive single by Pigeon. Since the use of jazz is quite predominant in their first single, it will be interesting to see what other sounds they will use in the near future.
