Nick van Breda - The World And The Everyday I Think About (29/09/2013)
Fans of Josh Pyke's laid-back adult-contemporary jams should get involved with Sydney-sider Nick Van Breda. if y'all haven't already discovered him through Triple J's unearthed website and digital radio station (they're fans of the man, as are we).
The adult-contemporary genre may sound, to some, as much condemnation as praise, and certainly this label can sometimes belie banality. Not here.
The World And The Everyday moves with steady, rollicking pace, picking up momentum like a ball of hay on a Summers day. NVB sounds easy, comfortable and slow – in all the good ways – like a Summers day.
Appallingly cheesy metaphors aside, this homegrown singer-songwriter fills a niche too often left wanting during an era of paint-by-numbers hip-hop and dub-step (these genres are simply everywah, darling, and my word, aren't they overdone yet?).
The critically acclaimed Think About, released in 2012, is a short, sharp and very sweet pop vignette that showcases the sunny harmonies and upbeat folk sensibilities of Nick Van Breda.
