My Fiction - Neon Cola Signs (07/08/2013)
My Fiction’s latest single release ‘Neon Cola Signs’ is a contemporary pop-rock track for the future.
Unmistakably, the moment you hear the upbeat jump of the rhythm and the clever vocal harmonies clustered closely to the fuzzy guitar line, thoughts of modern rock are alone within your mind.
The song itself is rather fun, it’s exciting and something you could imagine yourself nodding along to on a car ride to the beach or a festival. However, it also shows clear evidence that My Fiction are still a growing band. Their music is neatly written and borders on the line between being hits and another dismissible track on an album.
It feels like they aren’t really trying to push any boundaries or search for an original identity within the dog-eat-dog climate of bands just breaking out of the starting lines. Not to say they aren’t talented or in fact that their music isn’t any good, it’s actually the opposite.
They are most definitely and enjoyable band to listen to and their music is fun and infectious, it just feels like they have much more to give than what can be heard in ‘Neon Cola Signs’. ‘St Vincents Rd’ accompanies the single on their new release and has a greater atmospheric presence, which presents another dimension to their music, a new and positive angle that will hopefully be further pursued as their career continues.
Neon Cola Signs is a single that scratches the surface, hopefully evolving into something that showcases the potential this young band evidently possesses.
