Melody Pool - The Hurting Scene (19/12/2013)
Hunter Valley based singer and songwriter Melody Pool does not disappoint with her debut album The Hurting Scene, recorded in Nashville, USA during the latter half of 2012. Country fans will be thrilled by her offerings, though fans of other genres will be equally as enthralled.
Title track The Hurting Scene starts us off with a toe-tapping tune that will have you moving in your seat and eager for more. It is a strong beginning, demonstrating Pool’s fantastic vocal abilities and song-writing capabilities right from the start. Follow up Open Book slows things down a little, but the elements of a great song are still present, as is true for each track that follows.
Much like the album’s title track, All Of The Love will have you moving in your seat. Xavier gives us a look at the stronger side of Pool’s voice, while Henry shows off her abilities as a writer. Reckless Road is a sure winner for country fans new and old, and Pretty Little End gives us a unique finale that leaves me hopeful that we will be hearing great things from this Australian in the future.
The Hurting Scene may not be in the running for album of the year, but it is a strong debut that provides us overall with good tunes, a great voice and a name to watch out for. Whether you’re a fan of country or not, you’re sure to find something that you will enjoy on this little gem.
