Lucius Borich - Floating Me (04/04/2011)
_
Floating Me (and Cog alumni) drummer Lucius Borich took some time to answer questions about his new band's formation, style and future plans.
Floating Me has burst onto the national scene to a lot of praise. How has the reaction been for you so far?
So far people have been very supportive whether it's been when we've played live or feedback from the Album. It's great to see people coming along for the ride this early in the piece.
Like many, I’d like to know how did the band form? Was it a long term plan, or like a lot of great ideas, a spontaneous move decided upon whilst having a few drinks?
The band really came together just in the last 2 years but the music has been written over a very long period of time when everyone had time to put in. I've known the Scary guys for many years now and always wanted to jam and write music with them. My love of Jon's (Karnivool) bass playing always impressed me too so that's why I asked him to join FM, if he had the time and fortunately he did and said yes.
With band members from Scarymother and Karnivool, and yourself from Cog, do you feel like these bands are an influence on the style as a new group?
I feel we all bring something of our selves to the FM band which makes our sound and I guess you'll hear a little bit of our previous bands in FMs music but we are very conscious not to sound at all like them, whats the point of that!
The album drops on April 15th, and has been produced by Forrester Savell. He’s produced many great albums over the past few years. What was it like working with him?
It was fantastic he's awesome to work with and tells it how he hears it. I've always wanted to work with him I think he's really set the bar when it come to the new Aussie rock sound.
Floating Me are heading out on a national album tour soon in support of your debut album. Can you tell us a little bit about what is in store for the shows?
Well, we are still finding our feet as a band live so you'll see us very fresh and in the moment to make it all sound right. Just a band on stage giving their all for who ever comes to the show. We want to build it right so we hope people come for the right reasons and the long haul.

And any word on whether we’ll be hearing from Cog anytime soon?
Cog I always say don't hold your breath for any live shows or music. I was told it was being put on hold and that's that, your guess is as good as mine but it very much feels like its over that's for sure. You move on if you want to make music, I can't let the Cog ordeal hold me back.
