Lianne La Havas – Is your Love Big Enough? (29/10/2012)
Much can be said about Lianne La Havas, much can also be said about her new album Is Your Love Big Enough? But the greatest part about the English singer is the strength and passion found in her voice.
Hailing from London, Lianne La Havas voice can be compared to the likes of Adele or Kimbra, whispering a sweet, angelic melody when needed and raising to a smoothed, blues influenced vocal pitch when asked.
The ebb carried in her debut album, Is Your Love Big Enough? borrows the same feel found in foundations of the 1960s, Blues and Jazz era. Lost and Found for instance uses the sound of a low-key piano throughout its course which, when combined with Havas voice truly create a harmonious aura for the listener.
While it remains relatively the same standard volume throughout the rest of the album, Lianne La Havas gently dips more solemnly in the latter half of her album. Everything Everything, is a reminiscences of this dip, acting in a complete contrast of upbeat feel found in the first half of her album. Rather acting in a two-partner dance with the words sung by Havas and the beat smoothing out the imagination of the listener.
All in all, Lianne La Havas debut album is a shining success, effectively establishing the young English singer as an up and coming artist to be mindful of.
