Example - The Evolution Of Man (23/04/2013)
UK product Example has followed on from the success of his Playing In The Shadows record with his 4th album, The Evolution Of Man.
Example is an interesting artist, combining his love of electronic music with rock and rapping. This album sees much more of the rock side of Example come out. You can hear this during Come Taste The Rainbow, with a distinct guitar riff throughout complimenting his rapping to produce a solid opening track.
Crying Out For Help gives us an insight to the lyrical prowess of Example and you can tell plenty of emotion went into creating this track. It is this emotion that makes this one of the best tracks of the record.
Lead single Say Nothing is made for radio. It is a simple yet powerful tune featuring Example’s swift vocals and a basic backing mix.
Another single on the album, Perfect Replacement is a banger that would go off at a music festival, with heavy bass comparable to Australia’s Knife Party. The definite highlight of this record is the collaboration with a DJ that seems to be popping up everywhere, Calvin Harris. We’ll Be Coming Back has proved to be a hit for the pair and you can see why it has received the radio playback it has. It is catchy and makes you want to dance.
The only criticism I have for this album is that a few of the songs sound similar, but I suppose this can be expected from electronic releases. Other than that it is a pretty good listen.
Example is touring Australia for Groovin The Moo in coming months. His music is perfect for music festivals and should draw a big crowd.
