Eastern Invasion @ Ev's Youth Centre (08/04/2011)
Friday April 8th
saw Melbourne’s east rocked by ‘Eastern Invasion’. An all ages gig
presented by the organisers of National Youth Week. This highly
anticipated event had been advertised months before and the excitement
of the huge line-up drew big numbers.
State of East London closed a fantastic show that saw The Rose Line, Delinquance, Of Whispers, Meraki, We, the Innocent, Free World and Glorified! spread across two different stages, providing 4 and a half hours of sensational post-hardcore, hard rock and metal core performances; perfectly showcasing Melbourne’s latest and greatest up and coming talents.
After a tally recorded at the door, most attendees said they were most looking forward to hearing Glorified!’s debut performance of their recently recorded track Control. This was shown when the room was packed with fans all making their way to the front of the stage, yelling and clapping, eager to hear the new lyrics sung by front man Miles Phillipp, supported by fellow band members Luke Weber on drums, Steven Powell on bass, Tom Beale on lead guitar and Brett Powell with rhythm.
In their own words, Glorified! are “not just your average ‘hardcore’ band." With a mixture of solos, breakdowns, interludes, technicality, ambiance and brutality, but are a simply unique band, that entertain and involve the large crowds they attract whenever they play. ‘Control’ is the first track released from the bands untitled debut EP which is due to be formally released early-mid May! Friday’s performance gave fans a taste of what they can expect from Glorified! for the months to come.
Throughout 2010 they played numerous all age and 18+ shows and will no doubt keep that up for 2011, with their next appearance at Skate, Ride & Mosh on the 15th of April.
