Dangerous! - Teenage Rampage (28/09/2011)
Living up to many Epitaph bands isn’t easy and would seem daunting to majority of the bands that look for a label deal. Springing to mind immediately comes Bad Religion, New Found Glory, Weezer, Thursday and more recently Falling In Reverse. Joining this list is new to the game party dudes Dangerous!. Their debut album ‘Teenage Rampage’ combines a mixture of garage grunge and self-described ‘Heavy Mental’ tones, as well as lyrics that are both clean and screamed.
The first track off of the album titled ‘Not One Of You’ showcases a strong sound, opened with a rock and roll like scream followed by nice instrumental work. Strolling onto the next track, titled ‘Movers n Shakers’ we are greeted with the lyric ‘This ones for the movers and the shakers, not the stone cold money makers’ which is very much a party song. The garage grunge feels really give you the feeling to want to both mosh and party at the same time. The instrumental work keeps you content. The tune definitely sticks in your head a while after listening.
‘Slo mo Video’ simply begins with the instrumental work of all members, then introduces the clean vocals. The song is a fun song, with the lyrics, ‘let go, let go, one more drink, put your body on show’ it makes you want to dance, like the other tracks on this record. ‘Chasing the Girls’ mixes modern rock, and grunge with a popular topic for many songs, Girls. The drums, guitars and vocals really work together with the genre the band are portraying.
‘Big Muff’ is a faster song compared to the previous ones, none the less it still is a good tune. ‘Needle’ has a little bit of a different sound to it with the bands instruments while ‘Leper’ is a bit heavier than some of the other tracks, but still extremely enjoyable. Rounding out the rest of Teenage Rampage are ‘Ocean’, ‘Huzzy’ & ‘D! or Die’. They close the debut album with styl, D! or Die being a highlight.
The record is hopefully the first of a few more to come for the band. Dangerous! have certainly earned that exclamation mark at the end of their name. Their brand new album is done in style, with mixes of garage grunge and modern rock.
