Dallas Frasca - All My Love (Single) (09/04/2012)
There is nothing that will prepare you for the sassiness and might that is Dallas Frasca. Hailing from Melbourne and backed by guitarist Jeff Curran and drummer Pete McDonald, Dallas is a force to be reckoned with, all the more apparent in the first release ‘All My Love’ off the new album ‘Sound Painter’ due out in April.
The album was recorded in Brooklyn NYC in a warehouse and the first track truly reflects the honest, raw rock sound achieved through first and second takes, sans any bass at all. Everything was recorded with 1960’s gear and no safety net, and as a result proves beyond a doubt, that the band has stacks of talent and can bring it with ease into a live environment.
‘All My Love’ was picked out by the fans at a listening party in Melbourne to be the first release. It opens with a clean guitar melody and the sweet, husky and completely awe inspiring power of Dallas’ vocals pull character and life into the song. The only passing comparison I can make is to the similarly gritty and powerful Suzi Quatro. The hard drum beat comes pounding in, accompanied by a solid southern style rock riff that showcases Jeff’s skill perfectly. What ensues is some foot stomping, attitude driven old school rock that leaves you wanting more.
The lyrics are laden with emotion and attitude and tell the story of letting go of a destructive relationship and the freedom that comes with that. Dallas draws you in with her passionate lyrics, ‘You’ll never cleanse your shit filled brains, identity crisis is your middle name / all my love is gone and it feels so good to be free again’. Closer to the end strings are added, which heightens and fills out the sound. Included on this single is the radio edit, which is just the censored, slightly more polished version of the song.
Dallas Frasca has made a lasting impression and has brought us back to a time before electronica and synthesised beats were in. It’s not often enough that someone comes along who can deliver their message in such a direct and powerfully heartfelt way. ‘All My Love’ delves straight into the raw and true heart of rock and Dallas does not hold back on any level. This single does not disappoint and I for one am really looking forward to what other stunning treasures the rest of the album will bring.
