Bodyjar - Role Model (25/11/2013)
Bodyjar are back! The Aussie pop-punkers have brought you Role Models; an eleven track pop-punk monster that’s full of energy, fun and honesty that only an Australian band could deliver. Having been out of the game for a while, you might not have expected too much from Bodyjar but there’s no doubt that this one will draw in fans; old and new!
There are songs for all the walks of pop-punk fans. There are the lighter and uplifting tracks like Vessels and My Mistakes that a lot of new fans will get into easy enough. They have a good all round appeal to them with fantastic guitar melodies and a soft and swift vocal delivery.
But if you’re after something with a bit more edge to it, then go and listen to the title track, and Natural Selection which both have an old school Green Day and Pennywise feel about them with a that Bodyjar pop-punk twist. There are even tracks that deliver great melodies AND some hard punk aesthetics like Break This Feeling!
Role Models is by no means anything that the boys haven’t done before but it is done very well nonetheless. They have taken the pop-punk formula that they know works well and they’ve proven that it is still relevant! From the go-getter of Petty Problems to the finisher of Light, the album never lets up; always delivering nice riffs over a great punk-inspired rhythm section minute-in minute-out.
