Bobby Alu – Love You More (Single) (12/04/2012)
In the lead up to a national tour, Bobby Alu has released a new single Love You More. This single includes the album and acoustic version of the song Love You More, as well as the video clip, which gives a great insight into the sound of their new album. Overall this single continues Bobby Alu’s laidback, reggae sound and leaves you ready for relaxing tropical beach stay.
As with their earlier album, this single continues in the chilled reggae/dub island-flavoured sound. Bringing together Bobby’s Polynesian heritage and the soul of this 6 piece band, the music appeals to chilled listeners as well as those wanting to get up and dance.
The song Love You More, written by Bobby in a beach hut in Bali during a previous tour, brings the island feel and relaxed beach scene into the music. The percussion heavy sound coupled with a solid baseline bring forward the reggae sound, but the lighter styling of Bobby’s voice, the ukulele and guitar keep the song sounding quite laidback. With Bobby on the ukulele, this song also fits with the more mainstream, pop-music trends of Jason Mraz and Bruno Mars.
The Love You More acoustic, is very similar to the original version, but somehow gives off an even more relaxed vibe. Without the drum kit on this track, the percussion sounds lighter and the bass line is highlighted. The overall sound gives the feeling of lying back on a tropical beach listening to a local band.
Despite the demands of international tours over the past few years, Bobby Alu seemed to have maintained their signature laidback sound and they continue to supply the perfect soundtrack to an Australian summer. And if this single is anything to go by, fans of Bobby Alu’s music should definitely check out their local tour dates to see them live on their national tour.
