Black Fox – Day In Lieu (06/05/2012)
As the reincarnation of The Smoke, Black Fox brings across their dynamic energy from their earlier work with a mature and polished attitude. The band has continued their indie-pop style, but has brought in a heavier rock edge to round out their sound. As with their earlier releases, this track brings across this band’s ability to transfer their high-energy live shows into their recorded tracks.
Day In Lieu is the first single off their debut album Line Of Sight, set for release later this year. The track opens with Dane Robertson’s vocals. His signature hazy voice brings a heavy atmosphere to the song, and takes you right back to their original sound. The driving beat and dance-worthy bass line packs a punch, changing a melodic song into quite a sexy track. With Leigh and Daniel Mullens both on guitar and the huge chanted chorus creating a dirty-rock edge, this track brings the band’s individual styles into well-balanced single.
While we have been presented with only a very small sneak peak of Black Fox’s upcoming debut album Line Of Sight, it is clear that if the rest of the album lives up to the volume and energy of Day In Lieu it will be an album to look out for.
