Art of Sleeping - Empty Hands (17/05/2012)
Brisbane's Art of Sleeping have been receiving a tonne of Triple J airplay of late, and listening to their infectious 'Empty Hands' it's not hard to hear why. With an electric guitar hook to rival The Temper Trap at their best and a tight drum riff, they easily belong on Triple J's Hit List.
The vocals are gravelly and build to a belted out final chorus that is reminiscent of the climax of Matt Corby's 'Brother'.
Their sound is accessible and yet still indie enough to be hip. But if indie cred is important to you, get on the Art of Sleeping train quick, because they have commercially accessible radio-friendly indie written all over them. They will be on Nova FM quicker than you can say 'I knew and loved The Black Keys before 'Lonely Boy'.
The band are an act to keep an eye on, and are supporting Owl Eyes on her upcoming tour. It's a shame there are no b-sides on the 'Empty Hands' EP, and we eagerly await more from Art of Sleeping.
